Zion HealthShare

For larger, unexpected medical events that go beyond primary care, Cloudberry partners with Zion HealthShare to cover hospitalization, surgery and specialist care when needed.

Zion HealthShare is NOT insurance, but a healthcare sharing ministry (HCSM) — a community where members voluntarily share each other's eligible medical costs. Instead of paying premiums to an insurance company, you make monthly contributions to a shared pool that helps fellow members cover their medical bills — and they help cover yours.

You can join Zion HealthShare as part of an organization — a business or church group for example — or as an individual. There are no "in-network" providers; you may use any provider your choose.

Pre-Existing Conditions

For the first year of membership, pre-existing conditions — referred to as "pre-membership conditions" — are not covered, with the exception of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. For all other pre-membership conditions, expenses are covered up to $25,000 in the second year of membership; coverage amounts rise each year until year four, when they are covered at the full share of $125,000 per calendar year.

How to Use Benefits

When you have an eligible medical need beyond primary care, you pay the bill – your Initial Unshareable Amount (IUA) – directly to the provider, then submit your itemized bill to Zion. The community sharing pool covers eligible costs above your IUA.

The IUA is your per-incident responsibility, similar to a deductible but applied per medical event — not per year. After paying three IUAs in a 12-month period, Zion shares 100% of eligible costs for the remainder of the year.
