Dr. Melissa Covington is a double board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician who believes in helping you reach your personal functional goals. She oversees the Pain Center at Cloudberry Health, offering pain management tailored to your specific medical history, lifestyle, preferences – and even your genetic profile.

Dr. Covington received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College where she graduated Cum Laude.

She subsequently received her medical doctorate from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and completed her internship training at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City – it was there that she and her husband fell in love with the West and the high desert. She went on to complete both her anesthesia residency and pain medicine fellowship training at the Harvard program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Covington spent the next 10 years as an attending anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician at the University of Vermont. Her love of education and dedication to her field ultimately earned her a faculty appointment and she was named director of the University of Vermont’s Pain Medicine Fellowship Program.
In 2019, Dr. Covington returned to the high desert to practice in Santa Fe, first with Christus St. Vincent and then as the clinical director of Pain Medicine with Nexus Health. She joined Cloudberry in February 2026 to offer a full range of advanced interventional pain procedures, regenerative medicine and medical management to treat both spine and non-spine causes of chronic pain. Ultimately, her career goal is to minimize the negative functional and emotional impact pain has on so many patients’ lives.
