Cloudberry Welcomes Pain Management Specialist Melissa Covington, MD

We are pleased to announce, as of February 15th, double board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician Dr. Melissa Covington will join our growing team of providers at Cloudberry Personalized Health. Dr. Covington will oversee our comprehensive pain management program.

Dr. Covington received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College where she graduated Cum Laude. She subsequently received her medical doctorate from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and completed her internship training at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City – it was there that she and her husband fell in love with the West and the high desert. She went on to complete both her anesthesia residency and pain medicine fellowship training at the Harvard program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Dr. Covington spent the next 10 years as an attending anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician at the University of Vermont. Her love of education and dedication to her field ultimately earned her a faculty appointment and she was named director of the University of Vermont’s Pain Medicine Fellowship Program.

In 2019, Dr. Covington returned to the high desert to practice in Santa Fe, first with Christus St. Vincent and then as the clinical director of Pain Medicine with Nexus Health. As Nexus closes its door on January 30th, we are thrilled to welcome her to Cloudberry where she will offer a full range of advanced interventional pain procedures, regenerative medicine and medical management to treat both spine and non-spine causes of chronic pain. Ultimately, her career goal is to minimize the negative functional and emotional impact pain has on so many patients’ lives. To do this effectively, at Cloudberry Health the focus will be on rapid access to a program of comprehensive, proactive and personalized care tailored to individual patient needs and goals.

Outside of work, Dr. Covington enjoys photography, hiking, cooking, travel and flying with her husband.
