We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Judith Owens to the greater Cloudberry family. In June, she will open her practice, Santa Fe Medical Aesthetics, in the offices adjacent to Cloudberry at 1650 Hospital Drive.

Dr. Judi received her medical training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and stayed in Houston for her residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ENT). She also trained at MD Anderson, Ben Taub (the Harris County trauma hospital) and other top hospitals in the Texas Medical Center.

“When Botox and early fillers were FDA-approved for cosmetic use in the U.S., I became interested in their use for facial reconstruction as well as aesthetics,” says Dr. Judi. “So, when I started a family, I transitioned from a surgical focus to create a niche practice offering therapeutic and cosmetic treatments.”

With a background in plastic and reconstructive head and neck surgery, Dr. Judi offers aesthetic procedures with a deep understanding of facial anatomy. “Knowing how the bone, soft tissue and skin age together and the interaction of these structures allows me to recreate a natural appearance with Botox, fillers and bio stimulants,” she says.

Back to her roots in Santa Fe

During the pandemic, Dr. Judi divided her practice between big city Houston and a lake community in the hill country of central Texas. Then in 2022, she was offered a position in Santa Fe, and she took that opportunity to return to the community she long considered home: While she had grown up in the Midwest, her family resided in Santa Fe (her father was born here 92 years ago).

With her move to an independent practice in association with Cloudberry, Dr. Judi has once again found her niche. “After a few years with a medi spa here in town, I realized how important it is for me to work in a healthcare, rather than strictly cosmetic, environment,” she says. “The providers at Cloudberry share my same values and approach to patient care, where we consider the whole person and can take the time to address their real issues.”

She also shares Cloudberry’s affinity for our canine friends: In conjunction with the Houston nonprofit Pup Squad, Dr. Judi raised more than 100 puppies during COVID and today she enjoys hiking with her own pup, Sausage Thief, here in the Sangre de Cristos. Other fun fact: In her youth, she was a competitive nationally ranked figure skater and alternate for the world team and remains connected with the skating community as a technical specialist and judge for U.S. figure skating.

Santa Fe Medical Aesthetics offers a full line-up of cosmetic services, including botulinum toxin and other injectables, dermal fillers, sclerotherapy, biopsies, cryotherapy and skin care. See her website for details.
